High School Staff

Trish McCoy

High School Supervisor

Our pastor's wife, Mrs. Trish McCoy, serves as the academic adviser and high school supervisor for Peoples Baptist Academy. Education has long been a passion of hers, having taught senior high English for seventeen years before working with the pastor to start the school. With a Master's degree in Christian School Administration, she coordinates the academics, events, field trips, graduation, and much more. Although she serves well in many areas of our ministry, the high school is one of her very favorite places to be. A few of her other favorite things would be a good book under a big shade tree, almost any kind of Hershey's chocolate, and an evening out with a view of downtown.

Junior Sponsor

English, Speech
7-8 Girls' Bible

Mrs. Glory Clapp is a terrific educator and a long-time employee of Peoples Baptist Academy. She and her husband Ron have two children, both graduates of PBA. She teaches senior high English and speech and works as a fine arts coach in choric speaking. She has been a blessed addition to our ministry for the fourteen years she has served with us. Although she is known for her high expectations in the classroom, we have had an unbelievable number of colleges and professors who have contacted PBA to comment on the strength of our English program. Many thanks to Mrs. Clapp and Mrs. Trish McCoy for keeping us sharp.

Robert Vaughn

Mr. Robert Vaughn has been a faithful, long-time member of Peoples Baptist Church and has been a blessing to our ministry in many areas. Of his eleven years teaching, he has spent seven at PBA. Mr. Vaughn grew up in Morrow and Forest Park, Georgia, and attended Andersonville College, where he obtained his bachelor's and master's degree. He is now working on his doctorate.  In our high school, he teaches Bible, physics, pre-calculus/trigonometry, biology, and chemistry. Also serving as our athletic director, Mr. Vaughn loves all things sports-related but is an intense Georgia fan. He is also, as he says, a connoisseur of all food but especially of steak.

Mr. Mark Bookout is in his seventh year of ministry at PBA. He grew up in a pastor's home in Festus, Missouri, and attended West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster, California, where he received a degree in music. In addition to serving as one of our church pianists, Mr. Bookout gives private piano and band lessons. In our academy, he teaches geometry, pre-algebra, Algebra I, and Algebra II. He also directs the bands and choirs for all grades and oversees the music in our Fine Arts department. He enjoys playing the piano (thankfully), reading in his spare time, and spending time with his family, especially his 5-year-old niece.

She teaches junior high English, Home Ec, 9th grade geography and health, and 10th and 11th grade girls' Bible. Mr. Nathan Rickner has been a part of the ministry of Peoples Baptist Church and Academy for many years. Also a graduate of PBA, Mr. Rickner attended college where he obtained a bachelor's degree in pastoral theology and a master's degree in education. He serves faithfully in our church as youth pastor and teaches Bible, U.S. History, Economics/Government, and organizes our Bible quiz teams. He is also offensive coach in Varsity football, head coach of JV football, as well as basketball coach for our Varsity and JV boys. According to Mr. Rickner, you can't beat college football on a Saturday afternoon or a good steak.

Mrs. Melissa Roper has been such a blessing to Peoples Baptist Church and Academy in the years she has been here. Mrs. Roper grew up in Colombia, South America, where she graduated from the Music Conservatory of Tolima and traveled with the Colombian Symphony Orchestra. In our academy, she teaches Spanish, 7th and 8th grade science, and is responsible for beginning our strings program. She and her husband Rickey have two boys. Miss Mary Rogers came to Peoples Baptist Church and Academy in 2012 and has been a tremendous asset to our ministry. Miss Rogers grew up in Farmingdale, New Jersey, and then attended Crown College in Powell, Tennessee, to obtain her bachelor's and master's degrees in education. While in college, she spent a semester studying in England and has a special interest in history. In our academy, she teaches 10th grade computer, 9th grade physical science, and girls' P.E. She also heads up our booster club and fundraising and has become a fan favorite since adding soft pretzels and cheese sticks to the concession stand menu. She likes relaxing in a hammock, spending an evening at the symphony, and enjoying popcorn and a good movie in her spare time.
